Cookie Break!

I know this isn't a cooking blog, but....we ARE trying to describe our activities, and one of the things I am doing is baking. So, today, it's "Almost Oreo's." This recipe is courtesy of http://smittenkitchen.com/

Erin found this website and recommended it to me, and we both decided to try the Oreo recipe. Well, let me tell you -- these cookies are GOOD! Better have a glass of milk handy and then be prepared to make another batch, because they don't last long.

Now, to counterbalance the Oreo's, I will need to do another session of Pilates this week and then come up with something to make with the eggplant I have in the fridge.

Cathy,

Alas, there are no cookies at chez hultquist and you have given us quite the appetite. Mom did just bake us a delicious sweet lemon bread with almonds to further her efforts to fatten us like french geese.( i really think my liver is actually growing).

Cathy, we love your updates. It is always a pleasure to see what you and vince are up to.( or getting in to).

We love you both.

Oh, what's a person to do? With Christmas approaching and my usual favorites on the list to bake, along comes this wonderful looking recipe.
Will have to try them.

I'm still looking to bake the last few apples from Apple Hill. Someday, just maybe, the apple trees I planted will provide me with a few (and the birds allow me a few).

The only wildlife I can comment about today is that I found a dead raccoon on the hill next to the barn yesterday. No wounds, just dead. Puzzling. Just what you wanted to hear about, I bet.

Thank you for the beautiful pictures of the wildlife there. It's wonderful, the variety. I looove egrets and herons.

Gotta go to bed.

Love,
JL
